About

susnrise girls camp 15 copysized

Our dream was to restore an old farmstead to prairie and woods,  grow our own food, make some wine and create a wonderland for grandchildren. The tipi and pond campsite is our way of sharing our place. We love meeting new people, especially those that are looking for a new camping experience.

We offer four private acres through Hipcamp.com, including a small pond*, beach, treehouse, trails and peace and quiet. In addition to the tipi, there are kayaks, canoe, fire ring, wood supply, cooking equipment, dutch ovens, hammock, and tables and chairs. The only things campers need to bring are sleeping bags and food.  Dogs are welcome. There is a rustic restroom (outhouse), with an outdoor shower. Water and electricity are available at the restroom and campsite.

In addition, Navigation Play-Williamsburg, provides outdoor play opportunities at the farm on a seasonal basis. If interested, contact her directly.

A great meeting place for families, just 3 miles from Interstate 80 and within 30 minutes of the Amana Colonies, Williamsburg Square and Fireside Winery.

*A short note as of January 2024- we have been experiencing a drought. Our pond is the highlight of activity during the summer. Presently it is half it’s size, about 1/2 acre. This may affect how campers will use our site, ie kayaking, fishing, swimming, etc. Hopefully, we will have a rainy spring!

  1. Good Afternoon,
Im a disabled veteran, and was looking for a nice peaceful and quiet place to relax…. And I just love what I see on your site. My wife had never been camping ( in her life and she’s 55 now )… how ever when looking at you site I didn’t see if you allow pets. We have 2 dachshunds and a Yorker… I assure you they are well taken care of, as well as caged in crates when ever we are out of the room…. I guess my question would you allow us to stay at your facility with our pets…
Thanks for your time as I realize your very busy.

    Thomas,
Your pets are welcome here. We have 2 lab mixes. We usually have a meet/greet with the dogs. It has never been a problem. We can also keep our dogs inside while you are here. If you have any other questions, please let me know. By the way, I can’t think of a better place to introduce camping to someone. It is a wonderful experience and we can make it pretty easy.

  2. Maria,
I want to thank you and your husband for a wonderful experience staying at your campsite. It was perfect. I got to spend some quality time with my sister. The lake is beautiful and everything we needed was right there, and I mean everything. The birds were chirping the whole time, with many different sounds. I even heard the frogs putting in their 2 cents worth. Over by the boats, I noticed this really fat squirrel. He didn’t venture too close but he did wave on his way past the camp. It was also really cool to handle the fox snake. I am sure glad you knew what kind of snake it was. It was great to sit, relax, and paint a picture of such a beautiful place that was very well kept. And another favorite of mine was the Honeysuckle Bush across the lake. It smelled so good. As far as my taste buds, the wine you shared was excellent. It will definitely be a place to remember and hopefully, we can come back soon.

    God Bless,
    Sisters, Robin and Lisa
